At Etwall Primary School, there are many opportunities for children to gain cultural capital in Mathematics.  Making connections in their learning is crucial in developing procedural knowledge; from learning to tell the time; baking, weighing and measuring; orienteering skills; to taking part in various clubs such as Lego Club, Gardening Club and Imagineering.

Throughout the year, the children have various opportunities to develop their mathematical skills.  For example, previously we have participated in the NSPCC Number Day. Children also take part in a number of Times Tables Rockstar competitions to further develop their times tables knowledge.

IN EYFS children have a vast array of opportunities to develop their mathematical knowledge;  from making pancakes to learn about fractions; becoming shape detectives; using sweets to develop children's understanding of sharing as well as painting and printing.

Learning at home:

If your child would like to practice their maths skills at home we recommend a few websites/apps that the children can access.

These include:
Numbots (KS1)
Times Table Rock Stars (KS2)
White Rose 1 minute maths (app)
