Our Vision for PSHE at Etwall Primary School

Our vision for PSHE at Etwall Primary School is to inspire every child to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead happy, healthy and responsible lives. We strive to equip children with the understanding they need to build positive relationships, make informed choices and become active members of their community. We support our children through our core values of Curious, Ambitious and Caring.

We encourage children to explore the world around them, ask thoughtful questions and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others.

We support children to build confidence, resilience and independence, enabling them to make positive choices and achieve their full potential.

We create an inclusive environment where every child's voice is valued, kindness is encouraged and respect, empathy and responsibility can flourish.

ℹ️ Parents do not have the right to withdraw their child from Relationships Education or the statutory elements of the Science curriculum. However, parents may request that their child be withdrawn from the non-statutory sex education elements of RSE. Any such requests should be made in writing to the Headteacher, and alternative learning will be provided.

Cultural Capital

🌍 Through the provision of opportunities, children will develop their cultural capital through a wide range of experiences.

Some of these experiences are:

We follow the 'SMILERS' way to well-being (Stay connected, Move, Interest, Look, Eating well, Rest, Support)
Regularly inviting visitors to enrich our PSHE lessons i.e. pharmacist, police officer, vet, pilot, paramedic (and many, many more!)
Responding to the needs of our pupils- (inviting a male drama and dance teacher to combat gender stereotypes)
Using diverse books that represent our society.
Residential trips for Year 4 & Year 6
Celebrating acts of kindness
Forest school
Travel smart week
Anti-bullying week
Anti-stigma week
Regular charity fundraising events
A wide range of after-school clubs.

A range of planned school trips and experiences across the curriculum.
