Our Vision for Science at Etwall Primary School
Our vision for Science at Etwall Primary School is to inspire every child to develop a curiosity about the world around them and an understanding of how science shapes our everyday lives. We strive to equip children with the knowledge, skills and confidence to question, investigate and make sense of the natural and physical world. We support our children through our core values of Curious, Ambitious and Caring.
🔍 CuriousWe encourage children to explore scientific ideas through enquiry and investigation, sparking fascination and a desire to learn more about the world around them.
⭐ AmbitiousWe support children to develop secure scientific knowledge and enquiry skills, enabling them to think critically, solve problems and become confident young scientists.
🤝 CaringWe create opportunities for children to appreciate the impact of science on people, communities and the environment, fostering responsibility and respect for the world we share.

Cultural Capital
🔬 There are many opportunities for children to develop their cultural capital in science at Etwall Primary School, for example:
- Using Snap Circuits as part of the Electricity unit
- Exploring the natural environment within our school grounds, including the forest area
- Learning about famous scientists as inspiration for writing in English lessons
- Using the school grounds to deepen understanding of nature
- Using a range of texts to promote reading and develop scientific vocabulary
